Little Things You Do

That simple ad of a mobile network provider had an interesting take on life. It showed a schoolgirl who reserved a seat for her friend in the classroom. When the friend arrives little late than others, she finds it very touchy that she has a place to sit along her friend. That’s a very small thing one has done for the others but such small things actually make a big difference in the end. In relationships, in building a better life and in living happily forever. 

How does one manage to do little things that really make a difference to others? Let’s go through few simple examples. You go to a party and have a blast there with friends. After the party is over and the next day begins, send a simple SMS to the host saying how you really felt nice about the whole affair and how that party will remain in your memories for a long, long time. It may sound a simple thing but it makes a great impact in further cementing your relationship with someone. Or this example, where you are traveling in a local train and standing from quite long time now. Suddenly, some passenger has got to get down at his destination and he stands up. Though you are as such going to occupy the seat he has vacated, do tell him thank you before he leaves. This costs nothing to you still, it pays a lot in terms of happiness. 

Life is not about being just happy, but it is more about making others happy as well. If one can make others happy, he will find happiness sent back to him in larger volumes from most unexpected corners. Also, doing small but good things automatically keep you mentally quiet and peaceful. Little things are not little when see with a microscopic point of view. A single vote sometime decides victory or defeat of some candidate in an election. A small tablet can help one to get rid of a disease instantly. A small saving today can change life’s course in future. And among all, spreading happiness is the best little thing one should always do in routine life. 

Even God knows the worth of small things. That’s why, he expects us to spend a very small part of our whole day in prayers. That’s why, he takes away small amount of water from the earth for 8 months and sends the same back in form of rains. That’s why, he expects us to keep a green cover over earth in a small portion compared to the land we use for living. Then why not always give due importance to little things in life? Interestingly, our life too starts on a small scale as a body, mind and understanding of the world. With time, we grow and become wiser and better. So from now onwards, start enjoying little things and spreading small happiness everywhere we can.
