Russian-Based Norilsk Nickel, Recently Announced

The world's largest nickel miner, Russian-based Norilsk Nickel, recently announced it has reopened its Maggie Hays nickel mine near Kalgoorlie.

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy says the steady rise in nickel prices is likely to lead to increased investment within the Goldfields-Esperance region.

"There is also several multi-million dollar projects and capital investment tied up in nickel projects and we hope to see the strengthen growth of that sector in the future."
