Royal Wedding Is Only A Day Away

Anticipation for the royal wedding upped a gear yesterday as South Londoner John Loughrey, clad in a Union Jack shirt and waving flags proudly, became the first person to camp out in anticipation for the big day. In this buzz of excitement and publicity how have Britain’s Prince William and fiancee Kate kept up with the traditions of a wedding ?

While big plans such as the honeymoon destination has been kept secret, with Kenya and the Seychelles possible destinations, speculation is growing over Kate’s choice of wedding dress.

Fashionistas are expecting Kate to go for a traditional and cover-up style with gossip touting relatively unknown Brit Sophie Cranston, owner of the Libelula label, as its possible designer. It also recently emerged that Kate could possibly wear the Queen’s diamond tiara as a headpiece.

William is thought to keep with tradition and marry in military dress, like his father Prince Charles. Kate is thought to be adopting Diana’s policy of removing the word ‘obey’ from her wedding vows. Queen Elizabeth met Kate's parents, Carol and Michael for the first time at a private lunch in Buckingham Palace last week.

The night before the wedding, Prince Charles is expected to join his son William at St. James Palace to impart some fatherly advice. Kate will spend her last single night at the luxury Goring Hotel with her mother and sister, Pippa, before driving to Westminster Abbey in a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI.

After the wedding ceremony tomorrow, the newly-weds will travel on a royal paradein a open-top horse-drawn carriage, and should it rain, the couple will use the Royal Glass Coach.

The post-wedding meal, hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace is promised to be a showcase of British cooking, accompanied by champagne and wine from the palace cellar, and the wedding cake featuring the four national flags of the British Isles as icing.

Come nighttime, the after-hours entertainment is being left the capable hands of William’s brother, Prince Harry, who is rumoured to have invited his On-off girlfriend Chelsy Davy to the wedding.

The prince will be converting three rooms in Buckingham Palace into a nightclub and will serve bacon sandwiches at a Survivor’s Breakfast to anyone still awake at 6 am. “These royals sure know how to party”, commented Londoner Charlie Rubin.
