Infosys Technologies Ltd and Wipro Ltd Tuesday said they have moved out their expatriate employees from Egypt because of the political turmoil in the country.
Infosys evacuated all its 19 Indian employees from various client locations in Egypt Monday. The spoke-person added that the company doesn't expect any financial impact from the evacuation.
Infosys doesn't have an office in Egypt, and is now providing support to clients from India.
Wipro said it has recalled about 20 employees from its support center in Cairo. The rest of the center's 200 employees are locals. Wipro said it has activated business continuity planning processes, which aim to ensure that customers aren't impacted by the employee pullout.
"We are closely monitoring the situation in Egypt, and have taken steps to ensure the safety of our employees," the company added. But it declined to comment on any financial impact.
The company's Egyptian unit, Wipro Information Technology Egypt SAE, posted revenue of INR68.8 million in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, compared with overall revenue of INR271.2 billion.
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. doesn't have any employees in Egypt.
Businesses around the globe have stepped up evacuation of expatriate workers from Egypt and have ordered full-blown office and plant shutdowns, as anti-government protesters try to force beleaguered President Hosni Mubarak out of power.
