Buoyed by a firm trend in global markets, silver futures prices today continued its record setting spree to hit yet another high of Rs 43,199 per kg. At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, silver for delivery in December climbed by Rs 90, or 0.23 per cent to trade at a new high of Rs 43,199 per kg. The silver for delivery in March contract also shot up by Rs 142, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 43,340 per kg, while delivery for May contract gained Rs 139, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 43,459 per kg.
Globally, silver in the Asian region, gained 0.82 per cent, to trade at USD 28.36 an ounce. Analysts said a firm trend in precious metals in global markets, as speculation that Europe's debt woes will worsen, boosted demand for metals as an alternative investment, influenced silver futures prices here.
