Everyone wants to save money. Did you know that your cell phone plan might be a hidden source of savings for you.
If you got your subscription plan a few years ago, chances are you are still paying for your voice and data services, and your monthly subscription charge, based on prices that existed at that time. If you haven’t reviewed your plan in the past 12 months do it now.
There was a time when a 1 minute call would cost more than Rs 10, but today one can make the same call for as low as 1 paisa. While there has been enough advertising by different operators promoting these plans, the reality is that all of us suffer from inertia – whether its laziness or we are just too busy, many of us haven’t bothered updating our mobile plans to a cheaper option.
So if you have not looked at your phone plan in 2010 already, you should do so immediately so you can start saving money right from the beginning of 2011, and give yourself a smart start to the new year. Here’s what we would suggest you do:
Review your usage history: Look at your past 5-6 months of mobile bills. Do you see a pattern in how many minutes you consume and how many text messages you send? Accordingly, choose a subscription plan that offers you free minutes that cover a large part of your minutes talked.
These plans offer much cheaper rates of talk time after this free quota is used up. Review what your monthly usage is and choose a plan accordingly and Use international calling cards for ISD calls: If you have relatives overseas and you are in the habit of calling them regularly you can reduce your spend on ISD calls buy using world calling cards.
Welcome 2011 with a smart move.
