Can Money Buy Health?

Suketu was CEO of a reputed company. He was a brilliant inventor and a successful innovator. In his enthusiasm for unlimited progress and obsession for success, he had totally neglected his health. His life style was highly irregular. Working for long hours, too little or too much food at irregular and odd times, and no fixed sleep pattern. Too much of stimulants like coffee, coke and alcohol. He did not spare any time for physical exercise, relaxation or recreation. He had planned for luxurious and peaceful life style during later years of his life.

Suketu decided to celebrate his fiftieth birthday on a grand scale. The party was a memorable event for all. Next morning when Suketu got up, he had splitting headache and abdominal discomfort. This was something different from hang over. The doctor was called...Doctor advised to get certain tests as the blood pressure was very high. Investigations revealed that Suketu had high B.P., diabetes and cancer of colon. ‘How can this happen to me? Why me? This is ridiculous' he roared. Possibly he was under the impression that a successful and powerful business tycoon like him had control on all the life events after all he had lot of money.

During first half of their life many persons spend away their health to earn wealth, and during second half they are forced to spend their wealth to regain the lost health- which may not always happen.

God is not impressed by man’s bank balance or assets, but doctors are. Therefore rich have consolation. They know that money can buy them the best medical care, if not health. Birth, growth, old age, certain health or ill health events of life have been programmed into our very being therefore they are not optional but inevitable. However it is possible to be in control of some events by following 'achar samhita' rather than falling a prey to 'lachar samhita'. So friends let us add life to years rather than years to life. We want to live not just exist.
