Want To Be Rich?

Money, money. money… Raman has gone crazy. He is only after making money and waste it on expensive stuff: buying huge flats, new cars fancy furniture, gold----God knows what is he up to, said Ketan. I hate such rich guys. They become rich by either inheriting ancestral money or by indulging in wrong means. I am sure he has made money by unsavoury means, scam or by exploitation, said his wife, though somewhere she did get a feeling of admiration for Raman.

When descriptions like filthy rich, stinking rich, vulgar display of wealth are used deep down this resentment is based on envy, though very few of us would be honest to admit it. True, obsession for money does have some ugly side. There is nothing admirable about those who grab wealth by immoral or unethical means, scams, cheating and activities like smuggling or trafficking narcotics. However if a person has inherited wealth, which Americans describe as 'belonging to each sperm club' or has worked hard to earn this money, he has a right to enjoy high consumption life style. Those who would like to be rich but did not succeed due to inadequate efforts or some other set back often tend to ridicule the rich. This is just hypocrisy.

It is worth remembering that one cannot get anything for nothing. Such people often console themselves by saying that money does not buy happiness and rich people are unhappy is a ridiculous assumption. Money alone cannot buy happiness but it can give comforts. -----to believe that rich are unhappy is a ridiculous assumption. No doubt, some rich individuals are unhappy, but that is not due to their wealth or income. There are other factors like poor health, troubled relationship, family feuds, greed or unhealthy competition for one-up-manship.

If he does not get it he is never doing well; if he does not try to get it, he lacks ambition. 

If he gets without working for it, he is a parasite; and if he accumulates after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life.
