Zinc markets registered a surplus during Jan-Mar 2011 though the extent of it came down from the corresponding period previous year. The surplus during Jan-Mar 2011 of Zinc was 166000 tonnes down 43% from Jan-Mar 2010 when it was 293000 tonnes. World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) in its report said that the surplus for whole year 2010 was 383000 tonnes.
Report from International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) showed that the global zinc metal production registered a surplus of 111000 tonnes in first three months of 2011 over zinc metal usage.
