Malinga’s Second World Cup Hat-Trick helped SL To Beat Kenya

Lasith Malinga came and took his second World Cup hat-trick that helped them to crush the Kenyan by 9-wickets on Tuesday. Malinga becomes the first bowler with 2 successive World Cup Hat-Tricks. He gave his career best performance by taking 6 wickets in 7.4 overs and spends only 38 runs.

Sri Lanka missed Malinga in previous game against Pakistan and had lost it by 11-run margin on Saturday. Kenya won the toss and decided to bat first. Both brothers Collins Obuya (52 off 100 balls) and David Obuya (51 off 106 balls) scored slow paced half centuries and helped them to post a mere target of 143 runs. No other Kenyan batsmen scored two digits and four of them out on duck.

Sri Lanka achieved this target easily in 18.4 overs and beat Kenyan by 9 wickets. Dilshan scored fast 44 runs off 30 balls with the help of 8 fours before he was out by Otieno. Upul Tharanga scored a half century (67 not out off 59 balls; 12x4, 0x6).

“Lasith Malinga is the most important player for us and we want him to be absolutely fit and don’t want to rush him into the tournament.” These were the words of Sri Lankan skipper ahead of the Pakistan game on Sunday. Sri Lanka will play their next game against the defending champion Australia on Saturday, 5th March at Columbo.

Man of the Match:- Lasith Malinga who becomes the first bowler with 2 successive World Cup Hat-Tricks.
